Thumbs up

wcpuid for CPU and system bus speed.

100 and 133 memory? 33% faster?

133 will be faster but not a million miles faster. whenever you can, might as well get 133 memory. you *can* mix 100 and 133 but the system bus will only run at 100

something like SiSoft Sandra should tell you what type of RAM you have http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/ plus shedloads more of system info

The memory speed rating tells you how fast the memory will reliably run, not how fast it actually runs.

If you have a motherboard with a 100MHz bus, then you can put either 100 or 133 memory into it and they will both run happily at 100MHz. The 133 memory will NOT run at 133MHz.

If you have a motherboard with a 133MHz bus, then you can still put either memory in, but the chances are that the 100 memory will not be able to cope, because it's not rated for speeds higher than 100MHz. If it boots at all, you'll keep getting system crashes.

For future proofing, it's usually best to get the fastest memory that fits. It also tends to be more reliable.
