Thumbs up

Hi folks, I have the following bits for sale from my server at home. Ideally, in packages like I have laid out:

SCSI Setup:

1xAdaptec 29160N 68/50 Pin SCSI160 Controller
1xAopen 5 Bay 80 Pin SCSI160 Hot Swap Bay (Slightly hacked at the very bottom of it to ensure fitting into 3x51/4 bays)
1xSeagate Cheetahx15 36LP 36.7Gb 15Krpm SCSI160 80Pin Drive
1x IBM DDYS-T31850M 18.35Gb 10Krpm SCSI160 80 Pin Drive
1x IBM DPSS-31850M 18.35Gb 7.2Krpm SCSI160 80 Pin Drive

Please bear in mind just how expensive thes bits are before giving me some silly offers please

Motherboard Setup:

1xTyan Tiger MP Dual AMD Athlon/MP/XP Motherboard
2xAMD Athlon 1400(266fsb) 'AYHJA' Core CPU
2x256MB PC2100 Crucial Registered ECC DDR RAM
2xTaisol CGK760172 CPU Heatsink+ Proper 60x25MM Sunon Fan

Again, sensible offers please

Odds and sods:

2xIntel PRO/100+(82558) Dual Port Server Adapters(as in twin 82558 Controllers on one card controlling 2 ethernet ports)
1x NEC 32speed SCSI CDROM

That is all that I can think of for now....

Cheers,

Nick

Edited to add the correct controller card

Yes that is/was my home server

No point running all of that power for game hosting etc when I only have ADSL Fine for 4-5 players on the web, but no more.

I have another server built already to take it's place, but I am being sensible this time.......

Cheers,

Nick

My defintion of "Sensible" = Dual Pentium III 700.(old compaq Prof workstation) With 18gb SCSI system drive and 120Gb IDE ATA100 drive on a promise IDE card.

Whats your definition of sensible ?

If you have a price in mind mail me @ deano@eatworms.org.uk. There are one or two people in the office who may be interested.

Sorry, just made some tiny modifications to the SCSI parts stated, as I had a couple of the model numbers slightly off.....

As for a price for the SCSI stuff, going with prices that I got today, the current new prices for the kit are as follows:

Seagate Cheetah 15Krpm Drive - £310 Inc VAT
IBM 10Krpm Drive - £150 Inc VAT
IBM 7.2Krpm Drive - £100 Inc VAT
Adaptec SCSI160 Controller - £150 Inc VAT
Aopen HSC5 5 Bay Hot Swap Cage - £150 Inc VAT

TOTAL = £862

I think that £400 would be a nice little price for that lot

They have been used very little. Bear in mind that they have been holding mp3's, game serving, hosting UT webstats and there are only 3 users in the house and you get what I mean

Si, for more intensive use, SCSI is way quicker than IDE. For 1 single continous data request, 2 top class IDE drives striped together will be faster, but in all round use, the SCSI wins hands down

Cheers,

Nick

£230 for the Motherboard Kit.
The motherboard alone cost me that back in December.

Cheers,

Nick

To ensure nice, clean power, I run 2 ATX psu's. 1 400-odd watt Enermax job powering just the board and 1 300 watt Macron PSU powering the fans and the drives etc. Controlled by a power relay that triggers the macron to switch on when the Enermax powers up. It doesn't need to be this way, but it is just me being careful.

For specs and power requirements on the Motherboard, go to:
