The wait could finally be over . . . . . 
The OpenBox PC-Bioxx project has been terminated because of the release of the new MatriX (aka Xodus).
Features:
NO WIRES absolutely nothing to solder
Flash Upgradeable (programmer included)
Installs in under 5 minutes
Works with ALL Xbox's
This chip will allow you to play all import games in US, JAP and PAL format. The chip will be shipped unflashed (for legal reasons). Please flash with your own bios software.
Sounds sweet, can be pre-ordered here for $59. No pics or further detail s have been released, but this looks like its for real.

hmmm i have been following this for a while. i cant understand people placing a preorder when theres no decent confirmed info about the chip.
i think that it will be something like spring loaded pins that sit where the X-Ecuter sits now, but i have my doubts about these as they can move off the contact area very easily.
i will be sticking with my X-Ecuter.

I'm going to hold off chipping mine until a good modchip gets released. None of the current offers do everything I want it to do. The OpenBox chip looked like the best futureproof upgradable solution, but seeing as they have stopped work on it I have a good feeling about this one.
Surely it won't be spring loaded pins ? Sounds far too iffy to me.
Still holding out hope for a DVD firmware flash !

I wouldn't have thought this is a hoax or a poor product. They could be making a packet out of the OpenXBox chips becuase they are easily flash upgradable unlike the X-ecuter chips.

More news:
In an attempt to try and satisfy all the inquiries we have received over the past few weeks,
we would like to answer the main inquiries in order of frequency.
1. The Kit is based on the LPC bus.
2. The Kit will be shipped blank together with a programmer at the price stipulated on the
Easybuy2000 web site.
3. The Kit is Flash upgradeable, with full implementation of hardware to allow on board
flashing via the DVD ROM ( reflashing is also available through the supplied programmer)
4. The KIT has features and benefits never seen before on any mods in the gaming industry.
5. The indicated ETA is on target , and we shall be releasing our User Manual/Installation
Diagrams on the stipulated ETA date.
6. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the thousands of interested parties
who have taken their time and effort to send us email, for our hesitant and delayed response ,
we hope you will appreciate our reasoning behind our secrecy.
7. To all resellers we would like to state that Easybuy2000 has full rights to the distribution,
however we strongly recommend the use of their very powerful affiliate program. In order to satisfy
the European market Easybuy2000 will have an office set up in London by the end of September.
We have worked hard over the past few months to bring to you what we believe to be the Fourth
Generation MOD ! Many thanks to the community in general as well as to a distinguished few whom we
would like to credit individually with our deepest respect.

Very nice touch is a little led which changes from red to green when the chip is correctly installed 
I think even I may be able to give it a go
Mind you, I did manage to solder a six wire Playatstion chip without melting my board or limbs

Seeing the official announcements you have posted Dunk and also seeing the news from alot more sources, it looks good.
Please bear in mind the thread i posted last week about new Xboxes. They will start to filter thru to the Uk soon.
