Cool

Si,

well theres 3 things uni hasn't taught you:

1. always backup source code
2. always backup source code
3. always backup source code

To my mind I dont think it's possible, anyway everyone always harps on about VBs rapid prototyping ability....

Have fun

Si,

sounds like you are screwed, you could try loading the exe into visual studio but I don't think it'll help.

Si

I can sympathise with this one. My third year project was actually a data gathering tool in C.

2 days from Hand-in (and after several long long nights coding already). I ran very low on disk (386 SX 33, 4mb ram etc.) and the compiler tramped memory all over the disk.

I had hard copy from about 48 hours earlier and could find bits of data all over the disk

Drove 300 mile home straight away (in an MG Midget) . Dad spent 12 hours pieceing code together with the print out as reference whilst I wrote the project up, then sorted the gaps in the code and drove 300 miles back to hand it in.

Then got drunk. very drunk.

bloody hell mate thats bad!!

Nearest super disks Newcastle not worth going 100miles! i can live with just coding it all again if i have to.

Like Dean?? ive got a Word doc with all the code printed in it, just i cant be arsed naming all the Vb forms

It was an awesome program though i did

A quick google search revealed:

http://www.decompiler.com/
http://www.geocities.com/rayrxu/vbdownload.html

It's a start I'm sure you could find a definitive answer on the correct froum on decompiler.com

Don't they teach you how to use your own initative and search engines at University today, the quality of my last placement students seemed to indicate as much.

I need the code to prove ive done the work
If you have the exe, and the code in a document then that should be enough....

Oh and BTW - there is no VB6 decompiler in existence. The only one you'll find is for VB3 and the doco is in Deutsch.

Let me get this straight, Si. You lost everything, then somehow managed to get some of it back, and then lost it all again after installing a soundcard?

Why didn't you make a backup (well, 5 or 6, actually) as soon as you'd recovered some of the data after the first loss?!?

Duh!

After following super_si threads for several weeks now I fail to understand just what is 'super' about you. You seem to stumble between idiotic questions, hardware failures and coursework catastrophies expecting this forum to bail you out.

Can you please justify your 'super' prefix.

Si,

You have a computer that you are doing college work on, an unreliable backup system and yet you install new hardware whilst working on a project that you don't have a backup of?

how about a name change? Calamity_si
