Domain names and forwarding
Hi,
I have just uploaded my (unfinished) first ever attempt at a website. I am with BT Internet and have used the 10Mb of free hosting to host the site. At the moment my url is www.btinternet.com/~gareth.timmins but I would like a snappier URL. If i bought, for example, www.gtimmins.co.uk what would I need to get the new URL pointing at the BT internet index page?
Please feel free to let me have your suggestions and comments (good or bad) on the site. I will be changing and adding pages over the next few weeks.
Thanks,
Gareth

If you buy from someone like easily they will allow you to mask the forwarding. This means when you type in www.yourdomain.com you see www.somefreewebspace.someisp.somedifficulttorember .co.uk/someotherjunk butit leaves the address line as www.yourdomain.com.
BUT some of these places, such as virtualnames do NOT do free masking, they simply redirect the page to your complicated URL.
Check that out first before buying the domain.
