Ten Dell Poweredge servers running NT4 Terminal Server edition and Citrix Metframe 1.8SP3.
Office 97, Outlook 98 and IE 4.01.
Eight in LIVE published application group with load balancing, one for training and one for development.
450 users connected via PCs using a base NT4 Workstation installation and custom Shell that auto loads Citrix client after NT security validation. Also a few Wyse Terminals with an annoying problem of the Caps Lock key switching while fast typists are active.
Currently writing upgrade plan for moving to Windows 2000 and Citrix Metaframe XP, Office 2000, IE6, bla bla bla
And you?

Question ?.
Why do you need Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix.
Don't they do the same thing !
Never used TS before as you can tell.
Bring back VT320's and real terminal servers

Well, MS Terminal Services is the actual multi-user OS. Citrix produces add-ons which provide a lot more flexibility and support for different clients i.e. Linux, Mac's, Windows CE, MS-DOS, etc..

And citrix is quicker, allows the users to use their floppy drives etc... We nearly went with tarantella (sp) which looks better..

Interesting.
OK, anyone using thin devices? I'm evaluating Wyse terminals with their Rapport management software. Works pretty good if you forget the current bug with Caps Lock reversing.
http://www.thethin.net is a good resource.

Haven't been working with Thin Clients for the past 18mths, but did use Wyse and Compaq devices.
The concept is a pain when you discover a bug or problem since everyone's bound to be affected. Great thing though, is once you've fixed it, everyones happy
I must admit, I do miss working with that stuff. Spent 2 years doing almost nothing but integrating it with Novell Zenworks.

I'm a big fan now that I've been converted. Only problem is if server blue screens, which they do, it wipes out about 35 people here.
Proactive maintenance recommended by MS is to give the boxes reboots regularly! Once one of our servers has started served more than 1500 sessions (about three weeks use) we remove it from the farm and bounce it. Seems to keep things ticking over nicely.
