Some web logging software allows you to do that, Moveable Type for example, but I don't know the license because I hate "blogs".

Not an IT term I've ever come across!

The callendar & request are/would be two separate items.

Callendar is for visuals (updateable java one prehaps?) only.

You know, people have a website where they basically put their diary on it on a day-by-day basis because they think other people will be interested in reading all about every single mundane thing they get up to. That's called a "blog", short for web log.

Some of them have a calendar you can click on to see what's going on, similar to what you want, but it can only be updated by the owner. Moveable Type is pluggable so you can write your own extensions.

Cool

Looking for either a pop-up or prehaps a page that can be used to show appointments to a viewer, but is only able to be update by the website owner - remotely prefered (ie without ftping around). Would have access to a secure area if necessary on the website for so to manage.

Idea is to have like 5 people (field service engineers say) and each week they might have a different project. This is for the customer to look at the page (maybe skip through months), select a free period and a particular engineer specialist & submit a request for an engineer for that period. Once confirmed, the webmaster would update the callendar with the specified dates.
