MS Downloads
#1
I would like to download a few MS bits (e.g. IE6) on my nice fat pipe at work for install to various machines. The stoopid MS site only seems to want to give me the option to download the setup file whcih will then do decide to download the relevant bits for each install. I'd like the one big everything included download whcih I can stick on a cd and take to my test bed, home network etc. whch have much smaller b/w.
I presume I'm just missing it but can anyboy point me to a url for such downloads (specifically ie6) ?

I know I *could* buy a magazine with it on but it seems such a shame to let a *huge* internet pipe be wasted.

If you're using the same OS at home as you are on the machine at work, you can find the install package somewhere on your machine. On Win2k, it'll be in "\winnt\windows update setup files"
Not quite what you asked, but it works for me

Ta (just about rescused mail from a hotmail spam death). I was particularly interested in ie 6sp1 and some visual studio patches. Some useful bits I may make use of though

Links comes back with "The Windows Update Corporate Web site has been retired." and then gives links to usual d/l pages. Why MS cant give an easy option to download full packages for those who want to install off-line beats me I have three boxes to update at home. Buggered if I'm downloading "between 11 and 75 MB" three times over 128K ISDN when I could download 75mb at work by the time I'd written this.

You have to download the ie6setup.exe installer sub, then chuck in a load of command line switches.
The installer then offers which platforms to download for 98/ME/2000/XP and downloads the files for you. Nothing is installed.
This is the command line I ran to get IE6 SP1...
"C:\ie6\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"
Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?
