Does anyone here use a Nokia 6310i with Nolia PC Suite 4.81?
I don't have an IR port on my laptop so I purchased the RS232 cable and it just will not connect.
I've just had a quick look around the web and it would seem that this may be a commen problem that Nokia are ignoring.
Does anyone have it working? Any ideas would be much appreciated before I decide to return the phone and go back to my trusty J5e!

Yes, I have it working successfully, but not without much hassle, mainly because other things were trying to use the same serial port. Check that nowt else is doing this.
Have you downloaded the latest connection manager from the Nokia site - if you have then double clicking the phone icon in the systray will bring up a window with 3 buttons (serial/IR/Bluetooth). The left hand one (serial) should be green for the serial interface to work.

Thanks guys, glad to see I'm not the only one.
I do have the latest version but when I click on the serial link it comes up with the following message:-
Operation failed (error code: 80043000)
I have ensured that the serial port is active and nothing else is or ever has used the serial port.

Fellas,
I have had the same issues with IR to my laptop.... however this was after hibernating on WinXP Pro... Looks like Nokia have released another ropey bit of code... keep watching for updates on Nokia.com I guess..
Funny thing was after killing all the processes and stating the connection manager again it all burst into life... weird man.
