Hi folks,
I am considering selling my current server at home and building a new one, due to the fact that I want to put her in the loft and my current rig is way too big and heavy to do that. She currently sits in a cupboard under the stairs, but I am getting beefed at to clear it out for other things to go in.
Also, This baby is capable of so much more than I use her for.
I am well known for selling things under-priced, so I thought that I would see what you guys think I should accept/get for it before I whack her on Ebay.
It is the following spec:
Motherboard/Controler Cards
1x Tyan Tiger MP Motherboard
2x AMD Athlon 1400(266) CPU
2x 256MB PC2100 Registered DDR RAM
1x Adaptec 29160 68/50Pin Single Channel SCSI160 Controller
1x Adaptec 3950U2B Dual Channel SCSI80 Controller
1x Intel PRO/100+(82558) Dual Port Server Adapter
1x ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP VGA Card
Storage
1x Aopen 5 Bay SCSI160 Compatable Hot Swap Cradle
1x Seagate ST336752LC 36Gb 15Krpm 80 Pin SCSI160 Drive
1x IBM T18350M 18Gb 10Krpm 80 Pin SCSI160 Drive
1x IBM 318350M 18Gb 10Krpm 80 Pin SCSI160 Drive
1x Sony SDT-9000 DDS3 SCSI Backup Drive (Virtually Brand New)
1x NEC 32x SCSI CDROM
1x Floppy Drive
Chassis, Cooling & Power
No Idea of chassis Make, but basically a small/medium Fridge with wheels! Midi-ish size, but twice the width. Front Doors
Rear top, 4x Sunon 80MM Outlet Fans
Front, 2x Panaflo 80MM Inlet Fans
Hot Swap, 1x 120MM Fan Inlet/Draw Through Fan
Mobo Panel Side, 2x 120MM Outlet Fans
2x Taisol CGK760172 CPU Heatsinks
1x Enermax EG465 431W PSU Powering Just The Motherboard/Cards
1x Macron MPT-301 300W PSU Powering The Components
Both Joined using an ATX Power Autosensing Power Relay
Extremely stable
I think that just
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Nick

Remember girls I am no novice as you should all well know
The loft in our place has pretty poor insulation and it is actually pretty cool. If I build a P4 server instead with just 1 big IDE drive, way less heat is going to be chucked out. Also, being me, the new rig is going to have some pretty good ventilation too. Trust me, it is cooler up there than in the big cupboard with 4 big ventilation holes, a box fan, a EN5861(cooker) adsl router and a Powerware 700VA UPS
Cheers,
Nick

Split it and put bits on e-bay.
You fall between two stools. Corporates buy a (new) server with service agreement, and home users would see most of that stuff as overkill and not want to buy the whole lot.
Good luck - lots of quailty components there.

Def sell in bits you'll get far far more.
One of the blokes in the office just sold me his Old Compaq dual 600 P3 workstation. For £100 it'll make me a fine home server. I reckon I could have sold most of the cards etc that I didnt want for almost what I paid - leaving a free dual 600 But I like having "spares"
