Unhappy

Help - yesterday my display darkened for no reason at all, any pics or pages with dark colours are almost black. The colours are there but very dark, white seems grey. I've tried control panel, checked display but everything seems ok, turned brightness to full on monitor but it's still dark???????????

Also tried to install Mcafree virus software but the cd rom wont detect the disk, if i try to play a game the screen sometimes freezes and i have to switc off and on.

I had a virus a few weeks ago but formatted the HD, dis it possible its still in there somewhere? do i have to get a new HD? could the virus damage the graphics card, etc

Helppppp

What monitor are you using ??

If you can, use another display to make sure it isnt your graphics card

Sounds like the monitor contrast/brightness control has gone to pot. Borrow another monitor to verify.
