question for XP and Epson users

Question

I used to run Win98, and by going into printer properties i could see how much ink i left in the cartridges.

Im now running XP and i cant figure it out, how do i found out how much ink i have left?

Printer is an Epsom 680 BTW

are you using epson XP drivers or windows XP generic drivers?

im looking for the epsom disc. should i nstall that one instead then?

Hold up there dude. I'm guessing the drivers you will have (that came with printer) are for Win98 ? I would hope there would be new drivers specific for XP available from Epson. I'll have a looksee.

Right: go here http://www.epson.co.uk/support/download/inkjet.htm and follow the prompts to get the XP specific software.

Hmm, can't seem to get it working

Had this problem ever since I've had XP too.

Where exactly do you enable the status monitor?

Tried the above link, installed the software, printed off a test page, but no monitor turned up......

Any ideas?

can you goto your BIOS and play about with the parallel port setting. (i think something like ECP or EPP, etc)

From what I remember of Epson stuff, you have two bits of software you can download, the driver and the status monitor. I.e. you don't have to have the latter.

I would check you downloaded and installed both ?

i downloaded both then went to the icons and double clicked on them to install them...........hey presto it works
