Hi all, Ive just been given win xp home, and was wondering is it any better than the good old win 98se that Im running at the moment, please try to avoid things like you should get the pro edition etc, cos the question is about xp home. How does xp take to running a lan with ICS ?? and will I notice any difference in the running of any apps ??
Brief decription of pc : amd xp 1900+, abit kr7a-R, 512ddr, soundblaster c/w livedrive, radeon 64ddr vivo, netgear lan card, alcatel speedtouch, dvd, burner. Running general apps, games, and various download software.
Anything there that might cause an upset ????
Thanks in advance
Neil

You've got a lot of hardware for it to pick up there.
I would back up all my data to CD and wipe the hard drive and do a fresh installation of XP. Then re-install all the software.
But it's worth doing, XP is a much better OS.

you got a pretty fast m/board and CPU, so XP will run nicely on it. XP also support the hardware better and i find it a lot more stable.
i used to run win98se on my notebook (tosh tecra 8100, PIII 600, 128mb), then w2k and now XP. me definitely sticking with XP.
p/s make sure all your hardware are using XP drivers to get the best out of the OS.
