My mate's got an EPOX 8KTA3Pro mobo with on-board sound.

He's trying to install a SoundBlaster 5.1 card into it, but on restart , 'blue screen'........

He has disabled the onboard sound in the device manager, but no joy..
Any ideas???

might or might not cure it, but change to another slot on the sound card.

There might be a jumper to disable the onboard sound or maybe in the Bios. Device manager is not the place.

Try and boot in safe mode.

Loads up fine in safe mode - will tell him to look for the jumper setting.....

Didn't make sense to do it in the Device manager either...
