Backup Exec 8.6 and IDR

Does anyone use the IDR function of Backup Exec 8.6 to any great sucess? I've used it with 7.3 and it's not been 100% reliable.
I'm also trying to get it working with a HP c1537a DDS3, but it does not what to know. Any ideas
