Question

need to merge 2 partition into one coz running out of space. OS is windows NT4 server, HDD is in RAID (2x 18.1GB SCSI), file system is NTFS and partition is C:\ (OS), D:\ & E:\ (data).

need to merge D:\ & E:\ using PowerQuest ServerMagic (i think version 3.0 which works with NT4 server). how safe is it???

All of the PowerQuest software that I've used has been excellent (Partion Magic, Drive Copy) However I've never used the product that you're describing so......Make sure you back it up first !

oh yeah, goes without saying, a backup will be done first!

actually, i dunno why only ServerMagic is for NT4 server whereas PartitionMagic is for all other windows OS!

partition magic used to do servers, but then they decided they could sell it as a seperate product... (you can remove the hdd, put it in a windows nt workstation as a slave and then resize it..

If your using a software mirror, I would break the mirror remove the hdd and then change then if it works replace hdd and re-establish the mirror.
