I've just been using the XP CDR wizard to write a CD. The wizard keeps failing as it:

"Cannot delete <file>: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again".

Ditto if I try to delete it manually.

How can I found out what's using it and get rid of the bugger so that I can write CDs?

Also.... my PC struggles to shut down cleanly. It just sits with the shutdown screen on. What should I be looking for (other than a new install of XP)?

And.... when it boots, there's a *heap* of disk activity for the first 2-3 minutes after signing in. What's this a symptom of.

Time for Linux I think.

Cheers

Lee.
