Unhappy

After all your answers to my DVD software thread I've no installed Maximus DVD1.2 and PowerDVD4 - still no joy ? It all started when I upgraded from win 98 to win 2000. The system has a Hitatchi DVD-ROM drive SD-M1212. It's a Dell system and it previously came with the Ravisent Cinemaster DVD software - but they didn't offer an upgrade to Win 2000. Am I missing something obvious ?, when I put a DVD in the DVD drive the system doesn't recognise it at all and asks if I want to format it. I've been through the Toshiba website and it seems to say I don't need any extra software or drivers. The systems device manager recognises the DVD drive and reckons it's working ok.

Help.........

Thanks in anticipation.

Kevin.
