Hi peeps,

I'm trying to set up Realplayer so I can listen to streaming audio (the test match, if it ever stops raining). I have downloaded what I believe to the the correct file. rp8_linux_powerpc_cs1.bin

Now what do I do?????? I can't find any documents anywhere to help!

cheers....

Run it? Looks like a binary, with that bizarre .bin extension. Run file(1) on it and see what kind of file it is, I'll bet it's an executable though.

Yeah, I've tried running it with ./rp8 etc but I get and executive binary error. I think I need to log on as root to be able to execute the file, which I think is just an installation script.

Steve: are you going to be at Chequers on Sat, I'll be coming along with Jimi and tweenierob, see you there??

Yeah I'll be there in the Eunos. Going to buy a washing machine afterwards as currently I'm having to take my washing round to my mates place

What platform are you running Linux on ? As it looks like you have downloaded the LinuxPPC version i.e (Apple Mac platform).

If your running on x86 architecture, and using a distribution that supports RPM's (Redhat, Mandrake etc) go to www.rpmfind.net and do a search for RealPlayer.

Download the RPM file and as root type: rpm -Uvh <filename>

Ah, I'm running it on an RM Accelerator (I was made to buy it by work something to do with a suppliers contract), not an Apple, I'll go and have a look for the version I need....
