hmm lets have a look what I should be doing.. ill pick a call...

Re : Call id 253849.

Where IIS Server xxxNTMBDEV05 (10.0.7.105) keeps looping on reboot.

After investigation of the above error, blah blah has concluded that the box
will most probably require a rebuild.

Would it be possible to schedule the work required asap as xxxNTMBDEV05 is
currently being used as a staging platform for xxxx demonstration
prototype systems, prior to deployment upon live web servers.

Cannot be r sed rebuilding it.... cant b rsed fixing it.. scoobynets quiet... no email to read...

David

you could write a definition for 'component parts' for me. I'm in the middle of putting stuff into a contract and need a definition for PC component parts.

Not interesting, but I can't be arsed to do it until next week.

Or how about designing a simple website in some freeware software (or frontpage if it's simple) that would enable someone like me with no knowledge and an unused allocation of webspace to upload a few things, and even host some piccies of scoob meets?

Trouble is I guess it would only occupy you for the odd 10 minutes.

But it could be opening time by then.

Didnt get home till about 6.30 anyway... We decided to make it so that we take it in turns changing some of the sdlt tapes...

Anyway gets to 5 and ive forgotten to do it... so go round comms rooms doing it... except notice that theres a dead drive on the storage works 4100 (600gb fibre chanel disk array for the main data cluster.)

What is it with the compaq 34gig disks do they just like to fail more than the 9s and 18s.... anyway some ****** hasnt configured it with an online spare so I decide that im not happy to leave this till monday - possibly tuesday knowing replacement lead times

Realise that we dont have any spare 34gb disks, ring other offices but everybodys gone... so I rung my manager who agreed that it shouldnt be left.. whilst he was asking if I could get one from pc world I had a brainwave that another 4100 had been delivered but I hadnt had chance to install it.. and with it another 16x 34gb disks... Decide to use one of these.. except security cant find the key to the secure lockup area... we eventually find it in someone in the post rooms drawer....

So I get this drive installed, and it starts rebuilding... I then decide to check the backup logs on veritas... Except 1 off devices is offline... Turned out the scsi cable had fallen out.. Not Happy!

Sorted it out and went home before anything else went wrong.

Yep the 36gb drives seem really flaky compared to the others. I get them failing quite regularly :-(

ALLWAYS a friday... after everyone else has left.

You would think the ******* would be better as they seem to be more common in the higher end servers... (even though we have 18s in our ml570)
