Question

My m8's just called to tell me his pc won't boot up. As soon as the pc is turned on, all it does is beep constantly, no boot up, no picture on the monitor. I've had this before on my own pc but this was when my processor packed in (and it only beeped 3 times). Can anyone suggest anything.

Thanks

He's going to check if he's maybe dislodged another cable, Hopefully its not fcuked.

following my own advice and STFW! I found this. Depends on his motherboard bios.

Obvious things to try are removing everything bar 1 stick memory , cpu & video card and add stuff till it breaks again.

Also the cpu might need reseating.

.. a quick thought .. some mobo's have a 'case off' function where it don't power up if the case isn't on properly.

a long beep is usually for a badly seated RAM stick or its faulty due to your mate not takin anti-static precautions!
