Windows XP lost password
#1
Bought a 2nd hand laptop thro my bother in law from the company he works for. Its NOT stolen, they reduced staffing levels which meant they wanted to dispose of several old laptops. Only problem is there is a password protection on windows XP and I dont know the password. The original user of this laptop no longer works there so I cant ask him/her.
Is there anyway I can get around this?
Is it worth keeping XP on there? I'm still using 98se on my home pc and find it suits my needs so maybe I could install this?
I dont have any discs for the laptop so if I erase anything its going to be lost for good
I know very little about computers so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
BOB

Darlodge, have you used it on win 2000 & Xp ?
just downloaded it & tried to change the password on admin account on XP, it did find the local accounts but none of the menu options worked including quit for any accounts, the onlt thing it did allow was to enable disabled accounts like guest.
Have I done something wrong regarding the password change??
I use ERD Commander which works great on XP but I like trying other software to see if it works etc.

shunty,
I personally have not used it, a colleague of mine has though and recovered an otherwise dead machine. I have seen it working but as I said above I have actually used it.
