Trying to connect to a printer on a win 2k server via the net. Trouble is firewall is not set to allow the necessary ports.

What are the ports that I need to activate for me to access printer over the net ?

Thanks !!

The common ports used by Win2K are
135
136
137
138
139
1035
1036
1037
1038
1039

This will, however, give access to all of the NBT functions of Win2K not just printing.....I would suggest you either use a VPN client to access the network or allow use the printer via LPD/LPR directly.

LPD = Line Printer Deamon
LPR = Line Printer Remote

Its what most Unix systems use to print and most printers that connect via LAN are addressable via LPD/LPR
