super si.

you only need to buy Half Life. You then download the free Counterstrike Modification (MOD Version).

If, however, you buy Counterstrike (retail version) you still need to download the latest patches etc.

You need to "buy" half-life. Every copy of Half-Life is supplied with a unique "won-id" which you require to play on-line. If your "won-id" is a copy you'll be kicked off......

At £10 even a student should be able to manage that...

I bought the 1/2 life £9.99 retail version and was advised on this forum to download patches from here and there, I ended up not getting anything and kept getting shoved from one site to another to keep downloading crap, which ended up with a **** load of Gator rubbish and spyware getting into my system causing pop ups aplenty .

What is and Where can I get the "Mod Version" ?? if u have a good link I'd appreciate it as I'd love to get involved, but cant be bothered going through all the palava of last time and them having to download more software to clean my system up.

If you already have HL you need to download the mod version of Counter-Strike (here) and the latest patch for HL (here).

Trunky Monkey, for £9.99 what exactly did you buy?

Was it called Half Life generations with 3 CDs in it?

We do try to be helpful, but hey we have it working, so don't look the gift horse and all that. It is worth it honest.

Keep at it, it's really not complicated at all. Gatorade spyware? I don't believe anyone advised you to download napigator? to get a CS file. Are you perhaps referring to Game Spy? That isn't spyware, it's just the name of the shop. They have some links to useful CS sites and you can use it to spot where your mates are playing.
