Good one this...

Shiny new Tecra 9100 with all the bells and whistles - P4 1.6Ghz, 256MB, DVD, 802.11b etc etc (same naff keyboard layout though )

Finished the Tosh pre-install of Win2000 Pro SP2 off, no problems.

Now trying to install Office 2000 Pro SR1 from CD.

Half way through the install, Windows File Protection sticks up a dialogue box asking for the Service Pack 2 CD for Windows.

Here starts the problem...

Tosh only provide a recovery CD, no proper Windows source CD.

I've burnt my own SP2 CD but it won't accept that. The Office installer won't finish if you cancel the WFP dialogue (it just rolls back the install).

Suggestions?

That's quite high on the list of options at present.

1) FDISK
2) Erm, Erm
3) See 2

Have re-installed W2K SP2 over the top, rebooted, and re-run Office setup. Still asks for the SP2 CD and won't accept my CD that I've just installed SP2 off

Oh, just to add.

We've had a load of 9000 P3 based Tecras through recently and no problem with W2000 on them. Something's changed in the 9100 W2000 build me thinks...

Sorted it

Found this... http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q299606

So just removed the Frontpage Server and Office Server extension bits from the Office install list. Install finished first time

Cheers Suba.

i tell you, there's some weird stuff in office 2k. i remembered once i was trying to install office 2k on my tosh tecra. had w2k and lotus notes. for some reason, office 2k wont install! had to rename the file notes.ini before i can install it!

'cest la vie, it's microsoft.
