If its a new(ish) laptop with buckets of ram then XP everytime.

Too true - I use XP on my serious machine, and win 98se on my games machine.

I agree with Adamm

If its a fast-ish laptop then go with XP, if its not then go with 98.

Laptop must have at least 256MB of RAM, preferrably 512MB

me only using XP with 128mb on my laptop coz the second slot is knacked. laptop is a tosh tecra and CPU is a PIII 600. no problemo.
