Question

I remember reading that it is possible to ask BT to turn up the Gain on a line to help overcome noise when using a modem. Does anyone have any more details or know how you go about requesting this ?

Ring 150 and TELL them you want your gain increased to 4. 5 is the maximum but this is only used in extreme circumstances and the voltage can upset the exchange if you live too close to it. Most houses are on 2-3 which can give a lower modem performance.

Hope this helps
