Talking

Got 2 PC's networked together at home, both running WIN2k, but one of them refuses to let me share it's drives. It will let me share all directories in the normal way, but when I right click on say the C drive icon in My computer the option to share (the complete drive) is not there.

The computer has file & printer sharing installed, and I have administrator access, so there must be a hidden setting somewhere or a little system problem that I can't see.

Any ideas ???

Stuart

Dunno - but you could always map a drive to \\computer2\c$ to access the root of C:

Yeah that works fine

But I am still keen to get to the bottom of why it doesn't allow me to right click and share, anyone.....?

Have a look in Network options and make sure NetBUI, IPX plus Microsoft Networking are selected/installed...
Reboot and then you should be able to share...

I had loads of probs networking 2 PC's together, but persevered and sorted it.

Presently at work, so if you need more details I'll post exact instructions later tonight with the proper exact names of all components(will be late though as I'm karting at 3 sisters..yahoo!)

The easiest way is to install XP on both systems, but that's prob not what you wanted to hear!!

Cheers Tony,

The PC has Client for microsoft networks, file and printer sharing, netbeui, and TCP/IP installed and active for the network connection, I don't use IPX or Netbios protocols.

I've set this all up heaps of times on Win2K machines with no problems, it's just this one that appears to be shy The share option is there when I right click on a folder but not when I right cick on a drive, I am beginning to think that IIS has screwed the PC up somehow

i had this, 1st put dont share, apply then put share the drive.

To map to the other computer i go to run...\\192.168.0.2 (other PC IP) enter

comes up, then all you do is right click on the hard drive, and Map to drive

Easy
