Thumbs up

IMHO
Had this about two years ago, took the 'Dell'drive out and found it to be the same as most other drives just with a connector/interface lead. Might be that the hadrd disk had an additional caseing that Dell fit, cannot exactly remember but easy to do yourself.

A dell will take a nornal laptop h/d, oyu need to use the 'interface' cable/connector off of your old drive to connect it though.

It went wrong! Laptop would not boot, HDD made nasty clicking sound and screen kept coming up with "no operating system found". In my expereince this means it is Knackered!

well a low level format would do nowt in a situation like that as the clicking is the head skipping from one side of the platter to the other. in my experiance with dell they do use crap hard disks we have had 3 laptops fail in that same way and about 5 desktops
