would there be any advantage if i changed the refresh rate of my LCD monitor form 60hz to 75hz.The reason i ask is my mates seems to think so.

LCD screens don't have a refresh rate in the same way that CRT screens do. The refresh rate setting on a laptop usually refers to an external CRT monitor.

Alternatively, just try each setting and see if you can see any difference.

 

Becareful and check your monitor documentation as my LCD only accepts certain resolution settings and wont change if you pick an unsupported resolution. I run mine in 1280x1024 @ 75hz and it is a lot better than a 60hz resolution.
