My bosses home pc seems to have a small problem. It doesn't seem to think there is a cd drive present, even though it knew there was one yesterday. For instance, she can't run cd's cos it doesn't detect them, and in "my computer" there is A: drive (floppy), and c: drive, but no sign of d: drive. Anyone know the fix for this, and what may of caused it?

Sounds like the BIOS has 'forgotten' the settings.
Go into the BIOS menu and check the CD is configured.

Of course it might be the CD has died, I had this on a customers PC a month or two back, swapped it over for another one out of a spare system and it was as good as new.

Sorry brun I should have said.
Depends on the PC, sometimes you reboot and hold the 'DEL' key or 'F2'. It usually tells you in the bootup screen.

Thumbs up

i suppose to test if the cdrom is working, you can create a bootable floppy with cdrom drivers and boot the PC from the floppy. drop me an email if you need the cdrom drivers, etc.

edit coz cant type correctly!
