Outlook Web Access with virgin.net
#1
We have an Outlook Web Access server at our office which I should be able to connect to from any pc with internet access.
when I dial the internet via virgin.net and try and connect to our OWA I receive an invalid logon attempt. I am able to log in if I dial into the office network, and am able to connect to it when I dial into other ISP's. Does virgin.net have some sort of restrcition on this?
To make things more bizarre if i dial virgin.net from within the office I CAN log onto OWA, the only differnce I can see is that the office phone system goes out over Energis, how does that make a difference????
The problem only seems to have started once we upgraded our Server and Exchange to 2000

shouldnt that be http://server/owa ??? or has it changed now?
Depending on how its set up..
When you dial different isp, do you just change the phone number or is the connection configured differently...
Are you using dial up networking or does it have some sh1tty interface like aol?

Our OWA site is //owa.servername.com/exchange/username
When dialling different ISP's i'm just changing the dial up details, same PC same config. Virgin doesn't work, others like BT and Pipex work

using OWA, you should be able to access your exhange server just about anywhere in the world with a web browser.
have you got some sort of DNS setup on your PC? can you ping the exchange server? can you access it via the IP address rather than the domain?

thats what I meant about dial up... check your config with ipconfig /all or winipcfg.. and see if you are getting assigned dns when you connect..

Just tried dialling Virgin and pinging the exchange server (Got no reply) and tried connecting to OWA via //IP address/exchange and got same problems.
Don't know that not getting a reply when I tried pinging tells me anything, because I got no reply when I dialled through BT, and I was still able to log in via BT using both the full OWA adress and IP address.
