Help, having purchased a redundant laptop from work, after 2 weeks it's died ! Hard disk doesn't make any noises when starting & is the chief suspect. (Unless you've got any other ideas ?)
Where can I get hold of one for a Toshiba Tecra CT700 at minimal cost ?

even if the HDD is knacked, it should still boot up from the floppy (check BIOS to boot from floppy first before HDD).
as for used HDD, try www.cex.co.uk or www.loot.com or newsgroup uk.adverts.computer.

tosh wont boot from floppy unless you change in bios as scub said, only thing is you have to have windows running to use bios config util, no key press to get into i know how **** is that (on mine ne way)

On most Tosh laptops if you hold down Esc while powering on it will take you into setup. On some, hold down C to boot from CD or F to boot from floppy.
Hold it down before you turn on power switch, it is checked for very early on
