Hi folks,

I have been quieter than usual on here due to my latest plaything.
I have suddenly realised that I am truly getting old, as after 2 years of having top spec machines strained to the limits sounding like Harrier Jump Jets, I decided that for the sake of my sanity, something had to be done.
I took a fair chunk of Scoob moddin' money and forked out on a Koolance system. Why didn't I buy all custom cooling components throughout? Time. I am a pain in the **** with building PC's as I am a real perfectionist and I would have taken ages building up the absolute top cooling rig.
After getting the coolers and figuring out the right pipe length and clearance on them, I realised that the chipset clasp and nut would severly stop the cpu cooler from sitting flush on the CPU die. After much bending and Dremeling of the clasp and nut, that worry was taken care of.
I fully unlocked my Athlon XP1900+ using the good old superglue and conductive paint method. The glue partwas easy, getting the conductive paint to stick/set on the organic packaging was about as much fun as a kick in the nuts)
Anyways, to cut about 8 hours of work short, I now am running the following:

Koolance PC2-601w Watercooled Chassis
Koolance CPU-200 CPU Waterblock
Koolance Chipset Cooler
Epox 8k3a+ Motherboard ( having a 1/5 and 2/5 divider kick in at 166Mhz is excellent)
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (12x133,1600Mhz) running as a XP2250+ (11x166,1830Mhz)
512MB Crucial PC2100DDR @PC2700 (Non aggressive timing until PC2700 Samsung RAM arrives)
IBM 60Gb ATA100 7200RPM HD
Maxtor 20Gb ATA133 5400RPM HD
Leadtek GF4 Ti4600 Graphics
Creative SB Audigy Soundcard
Pioneer 16xDVD Multiregion
Acer 20x10x40 CD Writer
Enermax 465 PSU
Cool Case Mods Cold Cathode Light
Akasa Sound Deadening Material

Sorry about all that . Onto the pictures:

Some benchmarks for you guys using the latest edition of Sandra Pro:

The best thing is now that pretty well the only way to tell if the thing is on is by listening out for the Hard Drives. They are louder than the system itself!

Just got to see if I can now be arsed to go out side after all that and fit my MRO airdam and STI6 Spoiler......

Hope somebody has found this to be interesting

Cheers,

Nick

Thumbs up

Looks good - the noise of my fans annoys me too. What sort of cash did you spend?

Your previous set-up makes my 5 fans () look embarrassing! What temps does it run with the new cooling?

5 Fans? That all?! I was running 7 Sunon 80 MM fans and a 120MM in my old chassis! The noise never used to bother me, but as I have changed from rig to rig, using delta screamers etc, it has been becoming a real nuisance.

The basic case with pump and radiator was about £260, then the cpu cooler was £42ish and the chipset cooler was about £22.
The enermax PSU was about £73.

Cheers,

Nick

Now you're just exagerrating! If you remember, I was more in shock that one of us at work had finally gone down the sad path of the window and light brigade...
I found your purple light to be a little dark for my tastes.
The case came with the windows pre-fitted, so the light just had to be done. you know me, if you can't be first to do it, then do it better etc.....
Like I said, the Hard Drives are louder than the rest of the machine

Cheers,

Nick

Unfortunatly, www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk are about the only peopl in the UK that sell them. A bit pricey when compared to buying them in the US, but there you go. The case comes with the Koolance system pre-fitted. You just have to choose what waterblocks to run and how much piping to use.

Cheers,

Nick

Seems how you have this fancy water cooling, I don't suppose you want rid of any fans etc? My machine has suddenly started to get warm in this hot weather.

Cheers
