Question

can anybody help, a friend has asked me to see if i can help him design a simple web site, couple of pages and some photos for his junior football team, just to promote them a bit etc and list tournaments won and trophies

anybody point me to some easy instructions on how to do it

First off, don't worry about the presentation yet, or whether you want animations, or whatever. Simply start off with a structure for your website. Design the hierarchy of the site, then work out how you're going to present the content and also how you'll navigate the site.

As mentioned, forget trying to do something that is stunningly visual as it will look a dog's dinner. Stick with something functional that presents information in a logical, informed way.

I recommend Jacob Nielsen's Designing Web Usability book as an essential starter.

Ignore the technology. I really cannot stress this enough . It isn't important.
