Default Samsung Galaxy S8

The new Galaxy S8 looks pretty awesome! Wonder how many of those innovative features of the S8 Apple will put into their iPhone 7s/8?!

There's one feature that the iPhone8 will never have and one that is one of the most widely used feature on any smartphone, a headphone jack!

Why are modern phones so mahoosive?

Back in the day, mobiles were bricks. They got smaller and smaller, now they are getting larger and larger.

I presently have an Experia Z3 Compact. I bought it because it had everything the Z3 had, except it was smaller...same waterproofing, same camera, same processor, etc.

But this year, the compact version of the Sony phone is heavily downgraded.

My contract is up in June...what to get? Or do I go SIM only until someone releases something worth having?

It's pretty, but dodgy placing of the fingerprint reader and low effort at 3D Touch are a letdown.

Picked up some Bluetooth headphones at the airport, fantastic. Car also connects via Bluetooth. Headphone socket can die.

Im using an LG V10 dual sim 5.7" I like the phone a great deal, its been reliable and functions very well. I particularly like the fact I have 2 sims and a 256GB SD card.

I'll wait for the LG V30 iteration and the Galaxy S8 duos to compare feature and performance before considering anything new.

If you guys want phones with much less bloatware, buy them from the far east.

The V10 ticked all the boxes for me except for its hopeless battery life, what were LG thinking, the V10 spec is awesome and it has the best camera of any phone, then they spoil the whole package by fitting a battery thats no bigger than the one in the G4 and it struggles there with the slightly smaller screen.
Went for the xiaomi mi max instead. Camera isn't good in low light and you have to choose between a 2nd sim or sd card, but the 6.44 inch screen is incredible and battery life is 2 days easily. Incredible bit of kit for £135.

Just so you know, in addition to the headphone jack, the Galaxy S8 also has bluetooth too! It's not a new feature!

Just so you know this thread is about the Galaxy S8 not the Note 7, the clue is in the title.

I can't help but admire the simplicity and longevity of its design. An old piece of technology that still facilitates the gold standard by which audio quality is judge and provides an audio experience that is yet to be surpassed by any modern tech. The headphone jack was invented in the last century and will continue beyond this century....unlike, say, the Lightning port. You know what they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've never seen Bluetooth clogged with pocket lint, socket was broke so I fixed it. Never seen a broken Bluetooth cable either.

Give it time, I'm sure bluetooth headphones will have their unique set of problems. I've not had any issues you've described with my wired Klipsch earbuds and I've never been worried about losing one of my earbuds, or worry about batteries or how much charge I have left, or have pairing/syncing issues or randomly disconnecting during calls etc....it just works.

Horses for courses. My earbuds are wired together, have 8 hour battery life and with the new chip I don't expect any connection issues. Wires suck in my use case.
