Default mirror phone screen to tv

Hi all, im trying to mirror my phones screen to my tv.

I have tried it on, note 3, note 4, linx 7, with with no luck.

I have used this cable

on my tv, I have been through all the different ports non work

any ideas please?

my cable is like the red one in the link, but it has the 5 pin (micro usb like the standard android charger)

I have gotten the cable to work, but only with my old samsung s2.

I knew it was worth keeping all of these years!!

Cables from ebay work with older phones but modern phones say from Samsung s4 require a bit more than the basic ebay HDMI kit.

think i need to look for a chromecast or something like that, as my s2 wont display now. working fine yesterday, and today it wont connect with the wire :-(

iPhone and Apple TV makes it so much easy work.
I have both Apple TV downstairs and bedroom purely bought for airplaying movies etc, mirrors anything off iPhone/iPad etc.
My main tv has wireless stream but too difficult to operate and not reliable

thanks dpb, the cable came today and it connects to it fine, but just not full screen. tryed zoom on the tv and it helped, but still not 100% full screen.

getting there!
