Default linking from website to separate server to download

I wasn't sure of the best way to describe this so sorry if the title is unclear.

Anyhow, I do some work for a local society and we want to make PDF's of our old articles available to download from the web. I know that you can create links in a website to the file/PDF which will then download to the user. Our website is currently hosted by the council with limited storage space so we'll have to have the files hosted on a separate server (estimate about 2GB).

Can anyone suggest the best way to go about this or suggest a business that offers such a solution, thanks.

It is easy, I can make it complicated if you prefer but that's £5 a month.

as said - dropbox, also worth looking at syncplicity, or spideroak if you want a 'zero knowledge' hosting provider.
