OMG i have embraced the darkside
After years of using android OS based mobile phones, i have become increasingly disapointed with them over the last year or so.
So much so, that i payed my contract off early so i could get shot of it ...
And ive purchased an iphone 6, eek, why??
I have to say the icon zoom function impressed me, as did the screen thingy that pulled the top icons down to the bottom ...
For somone with small hands its a godsend, and it also means i dont have to hold the phone at arms length to see the screen lol.
Yes i could have got a 6plus, but i got shot of my Z3 for that reason, its like having a paper back book in your pocket, good to read, but bloody hard to get out of your pocket when sitting in the car!
So phone arrives next week.... Now ive heard you lot say that it works seamlessly with a mac, so in true in for a penny logic, I'm looking for a Mac.
Im not after a lappy, just somthing i can put in the back office for the phone and some basic picture transferring.
Ive seen a lot of Mac 7's and upwards that are reasonably priced, would they do, bear in mind i'm not after cutting edge, its only for itunes and surfing and some basic picture editing

Both together is a great experience, iCloud isn't perfect but it gets better all the time.
A 2010 model with a SSD will be fine for your needs, anything newer obviously better.

What does 2010 relate to in model number?
Will a 7 or 8 be OK, bearing in mind it probably wouldnt be for gaming
Just Word, Excel, some picture editing and music and surfing
This is probably one of the biggest lifestyle changes ive ever made lol

Here's my daily driver for web dev and general browsing/email it's great for everything except lots of photos as it doesn't have a SSD, start up is slow too but I only restart with an update anyhow.
I'll put an SSD in it soon and expect to use it for another 3 years or so.

Just picked up an Imac 7.1 20"
2,4Ghz 4GB Ram 320 HD on El Capitan
Complete with no quibble 2 year parts warranty
Would have liked a bigger on screen wise, but it needs to fit into a cabinet
Just need to add some new external storage as my NAS is going to get a bit full lol

I have a 2TB NAS set up allready, i was thinking of either getting another unit and creating a mac only NAS , or looking around, a usb standalone 1tb drive for a Mac is dirt cheap. i cant see me filling a 1Tb in a hurry

It'll definitely be worth moving your Photo library to the NAS, your hard drive like mine will be having enough fun just running El Capitan. I use iCloud Photos and that works out OK.

@Mart - if you want NAS storage on the cheap (without raid / permission based sharing etc) you might want to look at these;

I have 4 of these as 1Tb drives which I use to backup my music and photo collections, and one I use when I am travelling as it is self powered, and can connect wirelessly with whichever device I am travelling with.
Regrettably the newer version 2 device has removed the NIC, and only allow wireless connectivity.

You have to try it really.
As an example - bit of a ****ty one - over the weekend a friend wanted to track a flight, I'd just learnt that if you have the flight number in a message or a note you can touch it and a menu will appear allowing you to do so. I had to click it then select from the menu, my friend clicked it, pushed a bit harder and the details popped out enough to read, pressed even harder and they were at the screen I selected from the menu. Like I say crappy example that's hard to explain but when you try it it makes sense.
