I suppose one of the main issues is people are more inclined to post something they are unhappy with on the net rather than what they are happy with.
I've had Virgin since they were Cable Midlands (i.e before they were Telewest), and yes, there have been times where I've had issues but they all got resolved...sometimes it took a three or four attempts, but we got there. I moved house and didn't want them to make a mess with installing, and the installation guys were very cooperative in helping me get the internal coax pre-wired correctly so they could pop in and just fit the equipment. he biggest drawn out headache was when my email got shut down after I moved, unfortunately I was handled by India, and they were insistent the problem was with my computer, which is impossible as any computer in the world couldn't access my email, so I had to give them remote control of a computer (one without anything important on and with it on a different subnet...yes I am that paranoid), they eventually worked it out it was their end and after that it was resolved in minutes...pity it took 40minutes of pratting about to get to that point.
Now contrast this to the two internet services at my places of work. One was via Onebill piggy backing off TalkTalk's network, the other is NT telecoms piggy backing off Griffin. Both are hopeless. Drop outs appalling speed and both reliant on OpenReach that have been tantamount to useless in addressing the ongoing SNR problems. The one office has just switched to Virgin Business - problems instantly sorted; stable connection and high speeds - its all we wanted that the ADSL providers could not give.

When mine supposedly went up to 50MB, it didn't. I rang Virgin, who sent a reboot message to the box, and it went to 54MB immediately. Sometimes the box lags.
Same thing happened when I went from 50MB to 150MB which I have now. New box, it refused to start properly, Virgin made it do it and away we went.
TBH, I'm unsure why we need these fast speeds, I don't stream, I only browse internet.......

My 150MB runs 156MB according to the sped test site I used.

Just got 157MB and 10.12MB.
How do I find what my phone is getting? Same thing?

First week of the 200meg lightning quick then on the phone to them again yesterday. It would not steam YouTube from my iPad to my Marantz music streamer. Stalling cutting out etc all the kit is within eye shot of each other. For me no point having 200 if it can't do a simple task like that.
Any way phoned now on a new channel and won't experience the issue again. I have been with them from the ntl days my advice is any issue call them, as I think they have various channels and some can be over populated and drop out from time to time. Now running as it should but have always had my doubts about their hub, I have had it for a few years now and not sure if it was made to handle speeds as high as 100+ meg.

Since I've installed IP CCTV I found the faster upstream speeds very handy for remote viewing. But even with a 200meg service, the 12Mbps upstream is still not enough (ideally it needs to be 80Mbps).

Lag through wired or wireless? I'd check via a wired connection first, and possibly try using the superhub as a gateway in modem only mode and use a superior wifi router to manage the internal networks (like a Draytek or Asus RT series).
It's very easy to overload a wireless LAN router, wireless LAN by nature can only go as fast as the slowest device using it at that time. And the super hubs internal processing being shared between providing a internet gateway, LAN and WiFi could overstretched it if multiple people are doing high demand activities at the same time. That's why I prefer having my superhub configured to do one thing only; Internet. LAN and Wifi is handled elsewhere.

On my phone: 112MBps by the router, with 12MBps upload, upstairs, down to 32MBps download and 10MBps upload.
According to a mate, the Virgin router is poor, I need an ASUS Dark Knight...or something?
