advantages / disadvantages of using XP Pro for Games?
#1
is there anything to be cautious about when ordering a PC with XP Pro if I also want to use the PC for games? ie, will new games such as the new Doom relaese be OK on XP Pro?
Is XP Home the better option for Games?
Thanks,

I've got XP Pro here and all my games work fine, at worst you may have to patch some games, but most of the ones coming out now should support XP Pro.

I've been running Pro for the last 3 months - got games like GTA3 (had to patch!), MOHAA, Jedi Knight 2, no probs apart from GTA3....
Tiny patch downloaded from Windows site....
XP Pro is the way forward....

Championship Manager 2001-2002 doesn't work well for us - but others say its fine.
...and Microsoft Money 95 (- I use all the latest stuff ) doesn't work at all - well, for 30 seconds, then it corrupts your data file
I doubt there's any compatibility difference between XP Pro and XP Home - just more features in Pro
XP is much better than W98 for browsing folders of images, showing slide shows of them etc, and being a DHCP server - but otherwise I'd have chucked it within a couple of days of installing it
