Could they have written a more arrogant and invasive application?
All I wanted was a nice, easy to use tool to catalogue and play my choons - Real Player 5 did OK, but, expecting 'more but better', I upgraded to Real One and like the mug I am, paid to register it.
What I now have appears to spend more time accessing the 'net than I do, habitually 'loses' playlists and is now refusing to let me play anything at all.
The fecking thing is now insisting on an update. Despite me having a speedy cable-modem internet set up the update mini-app seems incapable of even connecting to the Real site, let alone downloading even more junk to force into its swollen gut.
My Zone Alarm is allowing access - can't see anything causing problems. I'm running W2k.
Anyone else having Real issues?

I detest Real Player with a passion. All them tickboxes you have to wade through during install to avoid getting spammed to death by the buggers.
I'm not even going near RealOne with a 10ft stick.

Ghastly piece of software - is there a non-intrusive player that does .rm and Realplayer streaming? Have looked in the past but to no avail

Some suggestions for good alternatives would be great..
Winamp doesn't seem as intuitive as it could be, and it makes my eyes hurt...

Nasty as you like!!!!
When I installed ZoneAlarm it went loopy telling me how many times Real player was trying to access the internet, even though i'd ahut down all "Real" processes e.t.c e.t.c, it still has stuff loaded that doesn't show up in the task list.....nasty. I go for the quicktime or WMP option now wherever I can, and block real player internet access....
