**Attention - Old School gamers ** Remember Elite?
Hi guys,
I somehow missed the loop on this one. As a kid / teenager I remember vividly wasting my life away on one of the first truly involved games ever created to my Mind... Frontier: Elite. That was back in the mid 1980's and it had you trading in goods around teh galaxy. Simple buy cheap, sell high, you could buy it, or destroy other spaceships and scoop up their goods from the debris. groundbreaking in its day.
Remember it?
Well its back...

I pre-ordered last night and got to grips with the training demo they have released. So far so good...
I can see me becoming a victim of a certain user on here who hates adults playing games for hours. LOL

Lol I can just remember playing this as a kid was a absolutely massive game if memory serves me correctly
That gaming rig you have there looks epic,,,,big kudos there.
I still have a gaming desktop at home but because I work abroad in the Middle East so much right now I bought a Msi dragon edition 2 gaming laptop for when I am in the
Oil fields in Saudi Arabia.
Once I start doing less time in the Middle East in April 2016 and back onto month on and month off I will buy a big gaming rig again for at home
PMSL surprised matteboy has not came on the thread condemning playing a game like elite ha ha

That's an epic setup
I backed the project from Day 1 and currently have the Gamma version to play with as well as my commander name reserved
Been following the newsletters every week. Just need some spare time to play now

Ha Ha, I can see how it would look that way, but I am quite the opposite actually mate, I just dont waste my precious time watching TV or hanging about in pubs getting drunk... I manage my time weeks in advance.
Was sat here for sunrise last Monday at 7am (2.5hrs from home)
The mighty Haystacks just after dawn last month:
(2.5hrs from home and a 2 hr climb)
Top Of Helvellyn 2 months ago. (9hr hike)
Sometimes I just head out straight after work and watch the sun go down with a flask and some grub...
Saturday morning at 6am im heading back underwater:
Great question - it allowed me to plug my other business for free.. LOL
Seriously though...
I am a firm believer in managing your time and your life. Nobody will ever be sat on their death bed looking back happily on the time they sat in the pub and got drunk, or that awesome movie they stayed in and watched while their mates were out climbing Helvellyn.
If time allows, im out of the house doing something, either alone or with the kids. My girls are used to being up at 5am and heading to the lakes to watch the sun come up from a mountain top and they love it. We have computers , Playstations and lots of other stuff, but its used at appropriate times. For me, the PC is an "After Dark" activity while the wifes heading to bed. (Shes a nurse so goes to bed very early)

Blimey - that's amazing. Now if one game could persuade me that they aren't so bad for grown ups, this is it.
Now if they update Speedball 2, M1 Tank Commander, Gunship 2000, Stunt Car Racer, Goldeneye and Kick Off 2 I could be tempted... ;-)

I used to run a 360 rad for cooling but got rid to Plumb in a water chiller. Had to insulate my mobo and socket too as condensation is mental when water temps are at 4c.
Loving ur monitors too! Im saving up for a 4k monitor prices are dropping too which is good.

Yep.... still got Elite and an Acorn Electron with Plus 1(with upgrade of 32K) Woop woop!! loved playing it in the mid 80's. Best game on the electron with 3D graphics (no solid shapes at the time though).
Might even show the kids for a laugh
Remember at school we used to share the games and have a go at copying them (I know its illegal, but been a while lol)

Solo is just that, there are other AI characters on there.
I'm no way an expert though, I'm about at the same level as you, can dock jump to another system etc but that's about it.
Wait till some bugger tries to pull you out of jump speed! it's interesting!
