Hi

The charger for my MBP has died and I urgently need a new one. It is a 5,4 which means it was produced between 2009 and 2010.

There are loads on the internet but I need to be sure which one I need and also that it is a genuine product and not a replica.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Hi Ant, will this charger fit my mb? I rang an applestore today and they said as my machine is 2009/2010 the current chargers they stock won't fit.

Also my original charger had a T shaped connector, do L shaped ones like in your link fit?

yeh it was just a change in design mine is a 2010 model and i replaced mine with one of those

Then the bloke I spoke to was a twatter. I even offered him by serial number to check if it was compatible and he said they didn't keep info going that far back.

I'll pop into an appplestore tomorrow with my laptop to check it fits and then buy it.

Thanks Ant, popped into an applestore today and picked one up. No idea why the numpty I spoke to on the phone yesterday told me they no longer stocked a charger for my age of macbook.

That's a bit crap, there have only been two MagSafe connectors and one cable position change. That was the dumbest Genius ever.

I even offered him my serial number so he could look up the details and he said they only stored details of computers made within the last two years

Anyway, all sorted now
