Default Why does my mobile phone keep "zonking out"???

Only a simple one, but I don't need an all-singing, all-dancing one.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Fame GTS 6810p

Basically, it regularly decides it will neither make, nor receive calls, neither send, nor receive texts and about every month or so, it shuts down completely while in my pocket, or overnight, without any warning, and for no apparent reason. It is then unusable and refuses to switch back on.

The only way to make it work again is to remove battery and SIM card, clean up terminals and replace.

Now last year, I HAD a Galaxy Ace....it was always fine and never did things like the above. I "upgraded" to this one at the end of my contract...I had asked for another the same but was told they no longer did that one, which I later found out, too late, was a lie.

This one is about ten months old. Is it faulty? Or is this something I just have to live with, common with modern phones?

Or should I contact the provider and complain?

I think these do need software updates somewhere along the way of your average. ( now 24m contract)....
Could also be battery breakdown, Mines might have better for 8qiud replacement (2.5 years old mind), but some of this is also simply various operations / applications chewing the battery - unnecessarily.

I'd say take yours make though, if only to have them investigate

I remember one of my PDA phones (anyone remember the HTC XDAs?) used to suffer from "stacking" where it would lose signal but never find it again unless you reset the phone.

As I recall it is due to destructive interference and any mobile can do it, but I suspect the phone in question has a hardware fault of some sort.

Samsung have a issue with batteries which they are keeping quiet. The quick check is take the battery out place on a flat surface if you can spin it its swollen in the middle and will need replaced. It seems to cause all sort of issues the phone turning its self off, call drop out etc. The daughter has a Galaxy S4 mini new battery fixed all the issues she was having.

My battery issues were down to the original usb cable, swapped it with a cheap eBay job and problem solved.

Just tried that with the battery, it seems fine, not spinning anyway.

I think a call to Virgin might be in order.

The trouble is, they will tell me to take it to a repair place here in town that I don't trust.

The fact that it used to call itself "Wicked Eddie's" might explain why.......

we had the fame at work very poor, they sacked it off for the S4.... Maybe worth looking at Upgrading or even better getting a proper Phone like an IPhone.

That being said I have the new Sony Z2 for work and it is very very nice, Great Walkman and headphones.

It has gone for repair........I'm not filled with confidence as they have sent me TWO complete packs to return it and TWO sets of emails.

I did try for an upgrade, but my contract runs until July 2015.

When it runs out, they will be all surprised etc when I don't renew.
