Question

Can anyone answer this question for me:

Can you use 256mb 168 pin DIMM 32Mx72 SDRAM in a AOPEN AK33 SoA KT133 ATX A motherboard?

I brought this from Dabs and it doesn't work in my PC. I sent it back to Dabs who say it works fine, is it a compatibility issue?

I currently run the same RAM but in 128mb size.

Thanks Scoobynetters

Tim

Question

did u keep your 128mb dimm in there with the 256mb one? I believe you need to match pairs of the same size. So u would have to take the 128mb one out.

I buy all my memory from Crucial, I have run your spec through the system and come up with the following - Spec

I have had a quick look at it and it looks like it should work as long as it is 100MHz. What was the speed of your RAM?

Wink

You don't need to run this in pairs but your MB may only be limited to 256mb ram. Best adive would be to remove existing DIMM try. If no luck try flashing the Bios to the latest

Cheers for the replies

I tried booting the pc with just the new ram but it didn't even switch on!! The speed is 133. My motherboard can use either 100 or 133.

What do I need to do to flash the latest bios?
Cheers

Super Si - not sure what you mean but it is from Crucial Memory.

I have downloaded the latest bios from AOpen. Doesn't seem to have made any difference. Do I need to do something with it apart from double click on the exe file? Do I need to enter the set up menu on switch on?

Cheers
