Default Does wax attract dirt?

Having treated myself/car to £90 of Autofinesse Spirit wax from Polished Bliss the car looks stunning when washed and cleaned, however it almost seems as though it gets dirty more quickly. Is this really possible? I cant believe that I may have spent that much on something that makes my car look worse the moment you drive it outside and wondering if its down to some other variable, such as time of the year etc.

In a word no.

Wax forms the barrier between your paint and the outside environment. It's sole job is to protect the paint (they will in some circumstances improve upon the gloss and reflectivity but 90% of that is down to how the paint is prepared beforehand) therefore it should help to repel the dirt from sticking and also make the car easier to clean.

What was your wash and preparation regime before you used the wax ?

Perhaps you're just looking at it more. The weather is awful for detailing at the mo.

I decontaminated, clay barred, the used Auto finesse Tripple to cleanse, following all the instruction precisely, before applying wax.
Forming a barrier isn't the same as being able to repel, the dirt can be stuck to the wax but prevented from contacting the paintwork.

What happens when water hits the barrier??

Answer it either beads or sheets off.

Exactly the same principle with dirt. It should be repelled to a much higher degree than unprotected paint.

Never been a fan of tripple myself although Spirit is a great wax.

Maybe you're just imagining things or expecting too much?

Your technique and preperation are spot on.

Thanks. It may well be due to the dirtier roads in the winter making it seem as though more dirt is sticking I guess.

Why dont you like tripple? I get on well with it as the previous owner, like many, didnt care too much when cleaning it. I can imagine a yellow sponge, one bucket full of washing up liquid and no pre washing was the order. It does a good job of masking those swirls.

Always preferred dedicated sealants over AIOs

Nothing wrong with it in principle and if you're working by hand it's a good compromise.

I didnt think tripple was an all in one? It does pretend to be a sealant either.

Tripple is an all in one , Polish, glaze, and wax. Once wax goes off it's a hard layer. The only thing that could attract dirt would be static. At least it's easier to wash off with a good layer of protection.

Thanks. Ive been Googling and it appears that quite a few people are reporting similar issues, generally caused by static. Some go as far as 'sprinkling water and patting after applying wax'. Thats not something I can ever see myself doing...not in public anyway.
Can I ask what you mean by 'Once wax goes off it's a hard layer'?

Wax goes on as a soft layer then hardens, leaving you to buff off the residue. At least that's how I understand it. If the leftover layer didn't go hard, then the dirt would stick.

Or is it the car is protected by its wax, its rained and it has beaded the water and dirt in the rain, and then the water has evaporated and left the dirt from the rain on the car ?
Its a thing I have noticed when using collinite in the winter

the auto finesse triple does work well but I think a good coat of carnauba is required something like r222 brilliant stuff! or dodo juice pretty good. have since tried the sonax detailer spray and works as a sealant and gives excellent beading and protection to polished surfaces. best possible bang for buck to get max shine id say r222 but quick easy 15 min work use sonax detailer. in this weather I much prefer the quick route!
