Default Selling... should I go for a respray beforehand?

I moved to another 18 months ago and had arranged for my red 2003 WRX to be kept in my parent's spare garage. When I returned in July last year I still had a month's tax and MOT on the car, so I used it - then lent it to a family member to run until it expired.

I returned a few weeks ago to find that my father had taken it out of the garage and left it stood - unstarted, and uncleaned - for almost 12 months. Suffice to say I was not happy! Stone chips in the bonnet, a scratch on the rear bumper, paint faded on the mirrors, spoiler and scoop peeling and faded
A hefty service bill and MOT followed and I've tried my best with the paint work but have not got anywhere.

I'm returning to my new home at the beginning of August and think it would be best to sell my pride and joy, as its being neglected. I've seen them advertised for 4500, but feel that if I don't get this paint work sorted I will get nothing at all near that. So I'm thinking of having it resprayed and selling it.

Opinions? Ideas?

Only an idiot would buy a 2003 wrx for £4.5k. £2.5k-£3.5k more realistic. Sell it as is.
