What to use for green stuff on rubbers?
I've just picked up a really nice condition W124 E230 Merc today. Generally very good condition and I'm confident of keeping the paintwork ok with a decent polish/wax ritual.
But the previous owner (Moleys dad) didn't drive it that often so it has like green stuff on the door rubbers and other areas. Like moss? But it seems quite dry so wondering what products would be best to remove when I have chance to clean the car.
Assuming a brush and some other product. Once it's gone it shouldn't come back as I clean my cars often and use them everyday.
Can take pictures tomorrow if it helps?
Cheers guys
Andy

Daisy from Tesco is a great APC, around £1. Normally on the bottom shelf. Try it diluted 10 parts water to 1 part APC initially ,try a stronger solution if necessary.

Bottle has changed slightly, the lid is now white, but you get the idea and the label is still the same.

Excellent. I'll pick some up today. Would you say squirting it on or wiping it on then agitating brings the best results?

Also whats the difference between the multi purpose cleaners on the polished bliss website and the multi purpose cleaners that I find under my sink apart from the massive price difference. Is it a similar case to HiFi speaker wire costing £££ more than regular wire cable because its called 'speaker' wire and thats it?

Daisy or similar APC works well on tyres and equally on window rubber trims. APC will strip wax if used undiluted or at a stronger ratio. Best to use it before polishing / waxing

i just had a car at the weekend with a very bad case of greenery on the rubbers & around the windows! i used autosmart G101 (its an apc) diluted of course & a firmish brush, a toothbrush would suffice.
Again as mentioned put some treatment on the rubbers when finished.

Are tyre dressings considered treatment? Is it a case that they are just "fine" or is there something special that you should use on outside rubbers. Everyone says use treatment but dont say what this 'treatment' is.

I would suggest some of the products on this page would be ideal. I just have Black-in-a-flash dressing for my trims. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...dressings.html

I will need to get some tyre dressing soon, looking at either blackfires or Swissvax pneu so may see how these fair on the rubber trim but I dont want to waste the product if its not going to be up to the job, likewise I dont want to waste money on two products that do the same job.

I would genuinely suggest you give the guys at Polished Bliss a ring and have a chat about what's best for you. I did a while ago on wheel sealents and a couple other things - very useful help!
