Carpets (not mats) help required...
Reet, the 205's interior is looking sorry for itself. I've got various products for the dash and half leather seats to get them upto scratch... but the carpet (and door carpet parts) are a different matter. They're the red GTi ones so look 'orrible and murky when dirty. My fault for not cleaning the thing for nigh on 6 months
So I need help on a budget. I'm wondering if it's best to have a valeter do the dirty work and I'll do the exterior. Or is a decent clean carpet achieveable with some cheapish products?
Help and advice welcomes
P.S. may try get a pic or 2 tomorrow a.m./p.m. if possible.
P.P.S. I'm gonna get some new mats so they don't need doing.

I use a Karcher carpet cleaner on my seats and carpets and they came up like new!
Guess i'm lucky enough to have one of these professional machines but you can hire them from local hire shops for half a day if req'd
IMHO nothing else seems to really get the upholstery clean

Do you have or know anyone that has a steam cleaner (I have just the smallish steam cleaner and it does fine)? Put an old cloth on the end (rather than the steam directly on) and can wipe down the carpet with that.
Do you have any Megs APC ? You should again be able to put that on an old cloth and wipe down.
Wet-Dry Vax/George/Karcher is obviously also good.

I'm wondering for a valeter and then keeping on top more so than I have been doing. It's a shame to see it all dirty.

Hire a carpet cleaner from Johnsons / B and Q for around £20 a day. With some carpet cleaner they'll come up a treat. The cleaner comes with an upholstery attachment. Be sure to let them dry by leaving the windowns open to keep mouldy odours away. Even better pull them out to do them properly. Why not put on some sounds while doing it too...... Bob
